  1. Remove any connected peripherals such as USB mouse, wireless adaptor
  2. Make sure that the AC adaptor is securley connected
  3. If you are using a power strip, remove the plug and connect directly to the wall outlet
  4. Remove the battery and attempt to power on using just the AC adaptor

Laptop screen is very dark

  1. Adjust the brightness or contrast. There are usually specially marked keys on the keyboard for doing this and sometimes it requires the simultaneous press of a key marked 'Fn' or similar.
  2. Check the power management settings. Some modes dim the screen to conserve power especially when running on the battery.
